Glass Partitioning - FAQs

What is glass partitioning?

Glass partitioning is an effective method of creating stylish and very useful office space that is tailored to suit your exact requirements.  A system of glass walls is installed to break up or partition off a larger office space. It provides a solution for customers requiring a minimalist workplace environment with discreet divisions of office space suffused with light.  It fulfils the need for privacy yet complements a feeling of space with visual continuity.

Why choose glass partitions over solid partitioning walls?

It allows natural light to flood into the workplace which creates an open airy feeling workspace along with clean lines, whilst still offering the privacy required for confidential discussions and reduced noise pollution. Lighting and creative manifestations, company logos and corporate colours can all add style and panache to the final design.

What are the health and safety requirements when installing glass partitions?

Briefly the glass must be toughened with some form of manifestation applied to enhance the visibility of the glass screens. It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that glass within critical locations throughout their premises have been fully risk assessed to ensure it qualifies as impact-safe or safe breaking and clearly marked with manifestation.

Do glass partitions effectively block sound?

No but they can substantially reduce it.

Can blinds be installed for privacy and light control?

Yes in certain systems integral blinds can be fitted.

What is glass manifestation?

It is now a UK legal requirement that glazed screens and doors are clearly defined with manifestation, so that they can be seen clearly from both sides of the glass night or day. Manifestation of glass must be applied at two levels, 850 to 1000mm and 1400 to 1600mm above the floor.

Where is glass manifestation used?

On commercial doors, windows, glass partitioning, glass sheets and some door hardware. It takes the form of a company logo or sign at least 150mm high (repeated on a glazed screen) or a decorative feature such as a broken line or continuous bands, spots, squares etc and must be at least 50mm high.

What do customers often ask you?

Can we incorporate the company logo or branding within the manifestation, can we design our own pattern, does it come in colours, how long does it last, is it affected by cleaning of the glass?
